Baked Midwest Sesame Chicken

Baked Midwest Sesame Chicken

A favorite of Chinese and Asian restaurants in the St. Louis area (and I am sure elsewhere), This gluten-free version is baked instead of fired to fat and its associated calories. The marinade is based on a recipe from a now long defunct privately owned restaurant, so the batter has more pronounced sesame flavor, but both the batter and the sauce have ingredients that ring more of the Midwest region of the United states, such as steak sauce, KC style BBQ sauce and liquid hickory smoke.

Happy Dogs Hot Sauce is a privately owned vendor whose owner lives just around the corner from me here in St. Louis.

I typically serve this with another original recipe, Ozark Fried Rice.

Chicken Kadhi with Spring Onion Rice

Chicken Kadhi with Spring Onion Rice

This Indian recipe is an outcome of failed recipe trial…
It is definitely a twist to the Indian Kadhi as it is made with chicken….the actual kadhi is always supposed to be vegetarian….
You would definitely love the simple flavors of the kadhi & it tastes heavenly when paired with spring onion rice.

Lemon Chicken with Artichokes

Lemon Chicken with Artichokes

My Grandmother would make this dish when we would visit her in California. The bright notes of lemon and artichoke with the briny capers and subtle chicken stock was so delicious over polenta or orzo. A dash of fresh chopped flat parsley just brings it all together!
