Not your mommas’ shepherds pie

About the cook: My name is Wenda Bonazza I live in top of a mountain in Pennsylvania. I am a mom of 4 and grandmother of 1 with 1 on the way. My two favorite things in life are singing and cooking for my family.

About the dish: My family is absolutely crazy for this recipe. My 15 year old daughter told me she wants my Shepards pie for her birthday instead of cake.

3 lbs. Lean ground beef
5 lbs. Mashed potatoes
2 cups BBQ sauce
3/4 cups sharp cheddar cheese Chesse
1 1/2 cup cheeze it crackers


Line the bottom of your baking dish with cheeze- its to make the crust.
In a skillet cook ground beef until brown .Drain. Add BBQ sauce. ( I prefer chicken and ribs BBQ sauce) mix well.
Pour cooked ground beef mixture over crackers, covering the cracker crust completely.
Sprinkle cheese over ground beef. ( Set aside approximately 4 tbsp of cheese)
Pour mashed potatoes on top, covering the ground beef completely.
Sprinkle remaining cheese on top of mashed potatoes.
Bake uncovered for 20 min at 300 degrees
