About the cook: Hi! I am a food lover and vegetable connoisseur. I own a small catering business and I spend my free time playing sports and and cooking.

About the dish: This recipe is a flaky puff pastry roll filled with apples, cream cheese, and cinnamon. This family favorite dessert airs well with a cup of coffee of tea. I hope you like them as much as me!

National Origin: French

Serves: 4

Estimated Time: 30 to 60 Minutes

Ingredients:

1 roll of prepared puff pastry
1 large red apple ( any variety )
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar
2 T butter
1 T cream cheese
flour for dusting surface
non stick oil spray
powdered sugar optional
vanilla ice cream optional

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 350°F Cut the Apple into very thin slices. The thinner the better. Microwave the butter and cream cheese for 30 seconds and mix together to form a creamy liquid. On a clean surface sprinkle flour and unroll puff pastry and place on the surface. Spread the butter and cream cheese mixture on the pastry dough into an even layer with an off-set spatula. Sprinkle the sugar on top and spread into an even layer with an off-set spatula. Cut the prepared dough into four even strips. On the far left hand side of a dough strip, layer the thin apple slices, overlapping in an even line. The red skin side of the apples should slightly stick out from the dough. Add apples this way to all 4 strips. Sprinkle thoroughly with cinnamon. Take one strip, and fold the sugared dough part in half, revealing some of the bottom side of the dough, then carefully and tightly roll the dough into a circular, rose looking shape. Place each roll into a cavity of a greased cupcake pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes , or until golden brown all over.Remove from the pan carefully with a butter knife or offset spatula. Let cool for 10 minutes, then sprinkle with powdered sugar or top with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
